How to improve your home Wi-Fi connection

If your Wi-Fi feels slow or keeps disconnecting, a few simple checks can help narrow down what’s happening. Make one change at a time so you can tell what helped.

Start close to the router

Check whether the issue happens in one room or across your home. If you can, try your device in the same room as the router. A stronger connection nearby can point to distance or obstacles between the device and router.

Restart your equipment

Save any open work, then restart your router using its normal power button or the instructions from your internet provider. Give it a few minutes to reconnect before checking your connection again.

Check other devices

If several devices are affected, the connection or router may be involved. If one device is affected, check its Wi-Fi setting and whether it can connect to another trusted network.

When to ask for help

Contact your internet provider for an outage or account issue. RoGurd can help you work through common device and home Wi-Fi checks at a comfortable pace.
