Why Is My Phone Storage Full?

Photos, videos, downloaded files and apps commonly use phone storage. Check the storage overview before removing anything.

A simple explanation

Some phones keep local copies of cloud-synced photos. Deleting from the device may also remove items from cloud storage, depending on settings.

Step-by-step checks

  1. Open Storage in the phone settings and review the largest categories.
  2. Review large videos, downloads and apps. Remove only items you recognize and no longer need.
  3. Before deleting photos, confirm how your backup or photo sync works and that important items are available elsewhere.
  4. Use the phone’s built-in offload or cleanup recommendations if you understand what they remove.

Troubleshooting notes

Do not install unknown cleaner apps or delete files you cannot identify.
